Our Advisory Board includes renowned professionals in the areas of pediatrics and child development, chronic disease management and coping, and communication planning and information design.
Dr. Maria Kovacs is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Director of the Child Development and Childhood Depression Research Program at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Kovacs is a world-renowned researcher in the area of developmental psychopathology and depressive illness and has made important contributions in the area of treatment. She has published landmark findings about children's adjustment to diabetes and has a long-standing interest in education and prevention. Dr. Kovacs has extensive knowledge of the various clinical, practical and psychosocial issues involved in children's adjustment to diabetes and self-management of their condition. Dr. Kovacs joined company's Board of Directors as Chairperson in August 2001.
Dr. Linda Siminerio is the Executive Director of the University of Pittsburgh Diabetes Institute, Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and Diabetes Education Coordinator at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Siminerio is internationally known as an expert in pediatric diabetes education. Through her multiple professional affiliations, Dr. Siminerio has been an active contributor to national policy decisions regarding diabetes care and education for children and adolescents.
Dr. Richard Buchanan is a Professor and former Head of the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA and President of the Design Research Society in London, UK. Under Dr. Buchanan's leadership the multidisciplinary programs in the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University have become some of the most acclaimed in the world. Dr. Buchanan is an internationally known and widely sought expert in the field of contemporary design, including communications design, information design, graphic design, and organizational design, with an emphasis on their theoretical foundations and practical applications. He has extensively published and lectured on the importance and role of design in various facets of contemporary culture, including communication networks, civic and political organizations, and education.
Dr. Barry S. Zuckerman is a Professor of Pediatrics and Public Health at Boston University School of Medicine and Chief of Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Zuckerman is a nationally renowned expert in the areas of pediatric health promotion, effective child-health services delivery, and the training of child-care professionals. He has played significant roles in the planning of national policy for preventive health. Dr. Zuckerman has served as Chairman of the Section on Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics of the American Academy of Pediatrics, as Board Member of the National Center for Children and Poverty, as member of the National Commission on Children.
