The Scientific Poster Sessions highlight successful outcomes of research activities and product development supported by the Small Business Innovative Research program.

March 5, 2004 - dbaza participated in the Pediatric Nephrology Seminar XXXI, March 5 - March 9, 2004 sponsored by the University of Miami, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Nephrology. This seminar is an international forum for pediatricians, general practitioners, pediatric and adult nephrologists, renal pathologists, neonatologists, urologists, pharmacologists, transplant physicians, immunologists, nutritionists and allied health professionals to review selected relevant subjects and share new materials.
dbaza Researchers Selected for NIH Grant-Writing Workshop
January 12, 2004 - Members of the dbaza research team participated in the National Institutes of Health conference entitled "From Clinical Trials to Community: The Science of Translating Diabetes and Obesity Research." The goal of the conference was to determine ways to improve diabetes outcomes in real-world settings in order to positively impact public health. It featured a selective grant-writing workshop for scientists working to bridge the gap between academic research and community.

Innovation Partnership Awards dbaza a MicroGrant to Assist in Preparation of an NIH Proposal
The Innovation Partnership has awarded dbaza a MicroGrant to assist in the preparation of a Small Business Innovation Research Grant (SBIR). This SBIR grant will be submitted to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The project will create an interactive diabetes education software program for adolescents with type 2 diabetes.

dbaza Research Funding Ranked in the Top 25 in Western PA, Pittsburgh
According to the October 17th issue of "The Pittsburgh Business Times," dbaza ranked 13th among local institutions and businesses in the receipt of grant funding from the National Institutes of Health in 2002. The top five was occupied primarily by universities and hospitals, including the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and Magee Research Institute. The National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project rounded out the top five.
National Institutes of Health Awards dbaza Grant for New Product Development
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded dbaza a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant. This grant is for the development of a product that will provide ongoing diabetes education to adolescents ages 14-18.

Salt Lake City - Aug. 7, 2003 - dbaza participated at the 30th annual conference of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE). A peer-reviewed poster about education for children with type 2 diabetes was presented by dbaza.

American Diabetes Association 63rd Scientific Sessions, New Orleans
dbaza participated at the American Diabetes Association's (ADA) 63rd Scientific Sessions June 13-17, 2003 in New Orleans. Individuals and health care professionals involved in diabetes research and/or the delivery of diabetes care attended the Sessions. The ADA published dbaza's abstract that demonstrated the effectiveness of "dbaza's Diabetes Education for Kids" CD-ROM. It appears in the June, 2003 supplement to the journal "Diabetes."
dbaza's Diabetes Education for Kids CD-ROM Featured at American Diabetes Association Regional Expo, Salt Lake City
"dbaza's Diabetes Education for Kids" CD-ROM was featured at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Regional Expo March 29, 2003, in Salt Lake City. The expo contained several interactive events, including professional speakers, access to health care providers and exercise and cooking demonstrations. dbaza's CD-ROM was displayed in the "Kid's Zone," a special area where children learned about the newest and most innovative diabetes products.
dbaza Receives Recognition for Creating Jobs in Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh - March 04, 2003 - dbaza has received Pennsylvania Job Creation Tax Credits from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for creating jobs in Pennsylvania.
